“Sunnyvale Christian School is a ministry and mission of Crosswalk Community Church. The Elementary school is open to all families with children from Early Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. We have a rigorous curriculum, focused on Project Based Learning. We believe children learn best with directed learning and application of knowledge through projects that affect and effect the world we live in.
We bring compassion, competence, creativity, and collaboration together as we utilize individualized learning and challenging projects for all children. The school week includes music, P.E., computer science as well as learning the common core subjects. We have a Maker’s Lab where students create and apply their learning using Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.
We believe all truth is God’s truth, and we strive to incorporate character development and Bible truth into our daily lessons, and celebrate our diversity, our talents and our God.”

Project Based Learning
PBL is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an engaging and complex question, problem, or challenge. Click on the link for more information: Steam_PBL brochure
STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math
Science: Students use the scientific method to explore inquiry in life science, physical science, Earth science, and the human body to learn about God’s creation and the scientific laws that humans use to define God’s creation.
Technology: Students make use of technology as a tool in learning. With iPads, iMacs, and devices such as Makeymakeys, physical programming boards (code bug), electronic kits (Snap Circuits and Little Bits), and The Pocket Lab. Students are encouraged to explore and support the hands-on learning that they are engaged in.
Engineering: While science asks “What is the problem?” engineering responds with ” How can we solve the problem?” We are consistently going back and forth between what is the problem and how can we solve it.
Arts: God made a beautiful work of art in his creation and we follow His footsteps as we learn about Him and what He has called us to do.
Math: Math is a foundation to God’s creation and all we are learning.
